The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres.
With its Queensland head office located at the Brisbane Airport, the RFDS operates 20 aircraft from nine operational bases located in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Charleville, Mount Isa, Longreach and Roma.
The pilots often have long waits at the Brisbane Airport head office, and we were approached by channel 9 and Michael Duffy from the Block to help create inviting spaces where the pilots and support staff can relax, enjoy a meal, watch some TV and rest.
